ART SAVES SPACE / JUNE 2023
19 Howard Street
In June 2023, Stone Chun Shi started the “Art Saves the Space” project at 19 Howard Street in Lower Manhattan. Using his own resources, he transformed an abandoned, graffiti-filled second-floor space into a venue for art exhibitions.
Stone became the project’s initiator, organizer, and operator through SCAA. The original appeal invited organizational and individual donations to support the operation of Art Saves Space.
Before: a space waiting for renewal
After: a place for art and community
